Like most top communications consultants, Peter Feniak has plenty of front line experience in the media, most at a national level. He began as a writer/producer in Winnipeg, then joined network programs in Toronto, notably as part of the talented team behind "90 Minutes Live with Peter Gzowski". In the 1980's he became an on-camera host/interviewer for popular programs on both Global TV and CTV, and guest-hosted often on CBC radio and television.
The nightly magazine "that's life" on Global, (with Feniak and Ann Rohmer) was the first show of its kind in Canada -- presenting stories from across Canada internationally in ENG format. 'that's life' won critical praise, a New York Television Festival Silver Medal, and an ACTRA nomination for Feniak as 'Best New Television Performer'.
He was also host/interviewer for the CTV network's daily information/talk show "Lifetime" (with Liz Grogan, then Rae Hull) -- hailed by The Globe and Mail as "One of the most intelligent and tightly focused talk shows in the country...a bright spot in TV's darkest hours."
Since the 1990's, Peter has built on that media experience and pursued a wide range of freelance projects as a writer and consultant, working as an effective Communications Consultant, Media/Presentation Trainer and Writer for a wide range of clients from international business to NGOs. As a writer, in addition to business writing, he has authored over 100 feature articles for The Globe and Mail (most focused on popular culture), The Toronto Star, and The Winnipeg Free Press.
Magazine credits include Saturday Night, Toronto Life, Today Magazine, Reader's Digest and Britain's prestigious music monthly, Mojo. He contributes regular 'celebrity profiles' to Transcontinental Publishing's Good Times magazine.
Peter spent many years as co-host for the national Labour Day Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy, is past Honorary Campaign Chairman for Muscular Dystrophy Ontario, and has worked frequently for other causes. He has worked in Government and taught at the high school and university levels.
Peter Feniak holds a B.A. (Honours) from the University of Manitoba and an M.A. (English Lit.) from the University of Minnesota.
Community activities include "Parents for Education" and many years as a baseball and soccer coach in Toronto's Mooredale Community Association.
